four:12

A couple of months ago, Michelle and I attended a Youth Workers Convention in San Diego. It was great to be in the presence of so many dedicated youth workers as we gathered together to worship Christ. Wlhile attending the general sessions, breakout sessions, and the fellowship of these workers, I became inspired to make a change and begin a fresh start in our youth ministry. I wanted to give the youth group a focus verse that we could revolve our entire ministry around. In the weeks after the convention, I began researching scripture. I started out by looking for verses with words such as "youth" or "young." Then, I came across a verse that absolutely blew me away! That verse is 1 Timothy 4:12, and it says, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." I could not have found a more perfect passage of Scripture. It truly sums up everything that this ministry stands for, and it coincides with our purpose statement. So it is with a prayerful heart that I introduce the new name of St. Paul's youth group: Four:12 Student Ministries.
